The first woman to have competed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the first to have competed for her native country of Somalia at the Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020). She made history as the first-person male or female to have won an international gold medal for Somalia in 2019.She has appeared on the front covers British Vogue, Wall Street Journal, ELLE, Harpers Bazar, Financial Times, DAZED, Guardian Observer and The Week to name a few.
